Another Locals' Tip
Here I am in the midst of another jam packed weekend, but I wanted to share this info really fast before I forget: Last night a bunch of us went out to the nightclub Plush at the Rampart in Summerlin. I have wanted to go there for a while, since it is so close to my house. Maybe I would be more willing to go out if we didn't have to go to the Strip for everything (what a pain!). I am reporting back to all of you that I had a very good time. The set-up is nice. They have seperate lounge and club areas, so that if you don't want to dance but still want to enjoy the atmosphere there is somewhere to sit. The lounge area has big wall sofas and tables. It's very inviting. Also, you can hear the music from the club but it's not so loud that you can't have a conversation. Of course, the tables in the club are reserved. Thankfully, we had a hook-up in the club and did end up with one. That is probably one of the biggest reasons that I don't go out much. I really don't look forward to getting all dressed up with heels and all just to end up standing in a crowded nightclub with no where to sit and astronomically priced boozes. I won't say that the booze were cheap here; alcohol was just as expensive as everywhere else. The difference was that they did a really great job of comping drinks for ladies. We were free to get in, too (sorry guys.). The hospitality was great, too. The bartenders, Djs and managers seemed genuinely happy that we were there. It was nice to not feel like the bartenders and bouncers were looking down at you. Another selling point was the crowd: it was "normal" people. I was probably one of the youngest people there. The emphasis wasn't so much on seeing and being seen. What a relief, because I hate the meatmarket feel of clubs, too. Most people there were probably in their 30s and not "perfect" by any means. So, if you are a local and enjoy dancing and having a good time but are put off by the crap on the Strip, check out Plush on Friday nights. (I don't know what it's like on other nights, but if any of you go, let me know.)
Don't forget my last tip: BJ's bar behind the MGM. Check out my early October blogs for a recap of that one.
